Kameda Seika Creates Sanitizing Wet Tissues from Non-Standard “Happy Turn” Products as Part of the ‘Re Kameda’ Upcycling Project
As part of Kameda Seika’s upcycling project “Re Kameda,” the company has developed Sanitizing Wet Tissues Made from “Happy Turn” dough, utilizing non-standard materials generated during the production of its iconic snack, Happy Turn. During the baking process, dough pieces that are undercooked or scorched inevitably occur. Previously, these materials were recycled as animal feed, but now they are being transformed into Sanitizing Wet Tissues Made from “Happy Turn” with new value.
Known for its unique sweet-and-savory “Happy Powder,” Happy Turn is loved for its distinctive flavor. The Sanitizing Wet Tissues are perfect for quickly wiping off powder from fingers or around the mouth. Starting in early December 2024, these wet tissues will be used in in-store promotions at select supermarkets.
Kameda Seika is committed to reducing food waste generated during the rice snack production process as part of its efforts to create a sustainable circular society. The company engages in eco-feed activities by recycling rice snack remnants as animal feed, donating products to food banks, and more.
Upcycle Program ”Re Kameda” is innovative
In May 2024, Kameda Seika launched the “Re Kameda” project to upcycle by-products from the rice snack production process into new, valuable products.
As part of its mission to be a “Rice Innovation Company,” the Kameda Seika Group aims to contribute to a sustainable society by leveraging the blessings of rice to create value in taste, health, and happiness, supporting healthy lifestyles. Moving forward, Kameda Seika will continue to expand its upcycling initiatives through “Re Kameda.”
