FamilyMart Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Kensuke Hosomi) and Gate One Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Ichiro Kurata), which operates the digital signage media “FamilyMartVision,” have completed the installation of digital signage in 10,000 FamilyMart stores across all 47 prefectures in Japan. As of March 2024, they have officially launched segmented distribution plans tailored to specific regions and store characteristics, as well as visibility analysis using AI cameras.
FamilyMart is seeing positive results from its retail media strategy. During the Q2 earnings briefing on October 9, President Kensuke Hosomi emphasized the strong performance of Gate One, a subsidiary established with Itochu Corporation in September 2021. Gate One, along with two other affiliated companies, achieved operating profits in the previous fiscal year, with Gate One showing notable profitability this term.
Gate One operates FamilyMart’s in-store digital signage media, “FamilyMartVision,” which is now installed in over 10,000 stores. Hosomi pointed out that approximately 60% of Gate One’s advertisers are from industries outside of FamilyMart’s supplier network, demonstrating growing recognition of the retail media’s value.
Recently, recruitment-related advertisements have become particularly prominent, with regional companies targeting urban students and IT startups utilizing FamilyMart’s expansive network to increase their visibility.
